Melanie Griffith, Matthew Perry and Me?
Yesterday, I had to leave work mid-day with severe back and neck pain. For those of you who don't know me, I do not load packages in trucks, I am not a bicycle courier. I sit at a desk. I wasn't reaching for anything--it just happened. I couldn't turn my neck more than 5 degrees any direction. After ibuprofen, a muscle relaxer, and a Vicodin, I still couldn’t move without severe pain. After a lot of sleep, I feel a bit better, but still sore. So yes, I feel like I am getting old. The scary thing is that I happen to have the above elixirs readily available. Now, I don't think I am an addict since these are left over from a sprained ankle injury and they have never been refilled. But I do raise an eyebrow to myself when I think of all of the famous people who have been admitted to rehab with the disclaimer that they were addicted for years to pain pills after a 'back injury'. So hear me now, if you notice weeks from now that I am drowsy and out of it, and never complain of pain, raid my medicine cabinet and throw any prescription bottles away.
